I think I would best describe 7 Camden Road Hawthorn as pretty well all there. It is a nice mix of old and newly renovated, so in other words you do have a flavour of oldie worldlie as you walk in from the façade through to the front few rooms - they’ve been done well and then out the back and upstairs has been done to a good modern standard.Good block size, sitting proud on the street. Speaking of the street - it is a beautifully quiet one.
The home lacks a little bit in terms of some real touches of class to make it a great reno, in other words, another foot or two on the ceilings upstairs and you would be going Wow - a little bit more interest in how you did things together in the back dining room etc and you’d go Wow - but overall it is very very acceptable, pool out the back - plenty of room, big block and in Hawthorn - they’re hard to find.
Garaging, let’s it down a little bit but there is room for one car, certainly two if you chose to reconfigure the garden a little bit at the front for off street car parkings - but no, you don’t have a garage and unlikely to do so.
I’ve always liked this street and I like the area - The Urquhart Estate situation is sort of Scotch Hill and Grace Park without the price tags – okay, the houses aren’t quite as magnificent but there is a difference in price and you’ve still got access to everything, schools, transport, Glenferrie Rd shops etc and all the things that you need.
Apart from garaging, its hard to fault. I like this area, I like this house and emotionally, I’m slightly above neutral on it but if you’re looking for a practical home that has good feeling and you think you can add one or two touches of class to it, then by all means… go for it.
