This period home has been rated as a major renovation. The property dates from the end of Victorian era, but it feels more like an Edwardian inside. It has high ceilings and divine formal room proportions. However, it may lack enough distance from its neighbours for some buyers and, although the backyard is private, it is short. Two doors down is a double-storey contemporary extension and it seems likely that will be the best option here. There is one off-street carpark at the front of the property. While this offers convenient access, it is not undercover. However, there is a precedent in the street for construction of a carport (STCA). Buyers may also want to investigate the laneway to the rear, as there is no current access. Recent sales of brick period homes needing major renovations in this precinct have seen good competition. For the first one on offer for the year, two questions remain - can a renovation achieve what you want in this home and how much should you pay?
