Our Rating from 2013:
This is a neat little house in a popular part of South Melbourne, centrally positioned between Port Melbourne's Bay Street and the South Melbourne Market. Despite the renovation not being recent, it does have a functional floorplan, with the second-storey extension providing additional bedroom space. The use of natural materials throughout the property gives it a warm contemporary feel which will appeal to buyers. For me this is not a family home, or at least not for very long anyway, as the kitchen is on the small side and lacks bench space and the off-street car parking looks tight for a larger family car. Also, the narrowing of the property at the rear takes away valuable living room and courtyard space. At this price point, and in this position, it will appeal to couples, downsizers who are comfortable with stairs and investors. The question I would be asking is:how long before you outgrow this home and may have to move? If it is under five years, this may not be the property for you. Over five years and it starts to make a bit more sense.
