Last night’s thunderstorms and heavy rain must have sounded a warning to this vendor who was well prepared for the gloomy auction day weather. Cosy fireplaces and the heater were set to high, warming the crowd of 30 or so taking shelter in the formal living spaces. Auctioneer John Bongiorno launched into his preamble, drawing attention to some of the sell...

Comments on 2 Harvey Street MALVERN

Tree-lined Harvey Street was looking gorgeous on the day of our inspection, as was Malvern Gardens, a mere 74 steps away (yes, I counted them on foot). Sitting proud, and opening to a noteworthy entrance, the immediate impression is of a home well-considered - a good quality build. It’s an elegant home with lots of green pluses on the ratings sheet. An elegant flight of stairs is smartly positioned nearby the garage entry. There are plenty of superlatives that could be used for the study, wide passages and a stunning kitchen. It is a big home too, and given the average-size block, it does take up most of the available space. This means only a small narrow courtyard remains for an outdoor life. Some informal enjoyment can be had outside, but there won't be room for when the children’s school-friends come around. This may not bother teenagers though. And with a choice of additional spaces and the privacy of the three bedrooms upstairs at the rear … be warned, the kids may never move out. There is a bathroom, plus an ensuite, and a guest would love to stay. But a large hangout/study area with two built-in seven-foot desks had the 15-year-old me slightly envious. There's lots of good sunlight up top as well, though it is worth noting that it was a tad warm at the time of our inspection – there is a flat roof overhead. The kids don’t get it all their own way upstairs. The master at the front gets all the views, with peeks to the hills in the east. It has a very good ensuite too, with double basins – it’s a mum and dad retreat, and what’s not to like about that?
