The sun had a special kind of shine this morning, which made the white of this renovated double-fronted Victorian glow brightly. From an initial crowd of 50, auctioneer Arch Staver was deep in to his preamble before I noticed that the numbers had swelled to near 85. And the interest was soon reflected in the bidding. Comments on 16 Turner Street ABBOTSFORD

The kitchen, the light and the large fresh bathrooms, courtesy of a recent renovation, all provide a wow factor here. The focus has been placed squarely on the kitchen and its appointments, which include a large feature bench. The dining and living spaces enjoy abundant light from a series of high windows. In fact, it's so bright,  the rear spaces feel a little exposed and window furnishings will be a must at times. This feels like a home for a professional couple; it's an entertainer’s space and a bit of a retreat from the working day. The front of the home and the Victoria Park location make it a straightforward package in general. Three bedrooms are adequate – although the room staged as a study feels a bit claustrophobic and would likely be required as additional storage in reality. The rear yard is a bit irregular, Trenerry Crescent shaving across the land on an angle. The yard takes a small car, though it would crash the party. For practical purposes parking would be at front on the street, so the nicely paved outdoor area could be enjoyed as outdoor dining. The flow is uncomplicated; neat bedrooms and living spaces could hold a family with a couple of primary-aged children that want to move in and get on with things. The lack of additional living spaces may cramp a family with older children, though having said that, the extensive nearby parklands and Yarra Bend golf course are close at hand for when you need to blow out the cobwebs and let off steam.
