Comments on 12 St Georges Road ELSTERNWICK

In its heyday this would have been one of the signature properties in this area, surrounded by mature gardens, stables and out-buildings. Regrettably the beautiful gardens have gone, land has been sold off and the property has been left untouched for who knows how long. But, despite having lost much of its original land, the property is still on a substantial allotment of over 1000 sqm with a good setback from the street and ample rear garden to extend the property and still have reasonable garden space. The property is only a short walk to the many shops and cafes in Glenhuntly Road, and the tram and train are just as close. A concern for buyers will be the amount of work required to return this fine Edwardian home into a functioning family home. Other issues are the large block of flats on the north side, and the narrow driveway to the rear garages. For the purpose of this rating the property was rated as significant renovation.
